Silambam Phoenix’s New York City Debut! Eight senior students of Silambam gathered in New York to debut a brand new margam exploring the Thanjavur style and the future of the art form. The company premiered one piece from a brand new musical-in-development titled Sati: Goddess Incarnate (music by Zachary Catron, book and lyrics by Vaibu Mohan) which combines Bharatanatyam with musical theater. The show was followed by a talkback with South Asians on Broadway founder Devi Peot.
